This vibrant afternoon happy hour will highlight the power that innovative design can have on addressing social issues such as homelessness! This charitable festival features live DJs, art on display, and presence from LA's design scene. Raffle, auction, and happy hour with amazing people for an amazing cause.

100% of proceeds from this event will fund the expansion of our #Youthployment program.

Cardborigami's program, #Youthployment, creates short-term paid internships for homeless youth in Los Angeles to help them successfully obtain permanent employment. Participants build innovative Cardborigami shelters for use in disaster relief situations. Please RSVP via our Eventbrite link. If you are not local or cannot attend, you can still support Cardborigami and our program by making a donation.

Survival Architecture exhibit

Art Works for Change has invited visionary architects and artists to consider artistically-interpretative solutions and prototypes for survival shelter. In Survival Architecture and the Art of Resilience, science, technology, architecture, and art converge in a quest for resilience: What does it take to survive and thrive amid a changing climate?  How we can address the needs of the world’s most vulnerable citizens? Through a variety of innovative ideas — high-tech and low-tech, extravagant and affordable — the exhibition begins to address the challenges of excess heat, droughts, flooding, food insecurity, homelessness, mass violence, biological disaster, and earthquake.

Beautiful Design in Unexpected Places

Dwell on Design Los Angeles, curated by the editors of Dwell magazine, is a three-day exhibition and conference at the Los Angeles Convention Center. Dwell on Design 2016 will be featuring Tina Hovsepian's Cardborigami shelters alongside world-class speakers, product demonstrations, continuing education classes for design professionals, and seminars for design-seeking consumers. Each year, Dwell editors carefully craft a program that invites you to “step into the pages of Dwell” and experience modern design. With three full days of dynamic exhibitions, unparalleled educational opportunities, cutting-edge technologies, 40 onstage programs, over 100 speakers, and more than 2,000 innovative modern furnishings and products, Dwell on Design Los Angeles is America’s largest design event.

Design for Dignity is an AIA|LA conference on housing affordability and homelessness. Tina Hovsepian, along with leading providers of affordable and supportive housing, will speak in various panel discussions and presentations. There will also be American Institute of Architecture members with innovative approaches, and stakeholders directly affected by this compelling issue.

AIA members can receive up to 6.5 HSW CEUs for attendance.

design within reach fundraiser

Cardborigami is partnering with America Nepal Society of California and Wellabon to help local organizations in Nepal rebuild schools, dorms, and libraries in remote villages of Nepal. After the earthquake over 8,000 schools have been damaged and education is so important in developing countries. Come enjoy refreshments, live entertainment, and a presentation about our future projects in Nepal.
